When should I test my child’s eye?

  • No child is too young to be examined, even an infant can be examined if necessary to rule out squints
  • Every single child should have a comprehensive eye examination at the age of 5-7.
  • Teenagers should have an eye examination done every 2 years.

How often should I have an eye examination?

  • Adults over the age of 50 should have an annual eye examination, the eye loses its focus ability with age and need to strengthen the reading part.
  • Teenagers and adults below 50 should have an eye examination every 2 years.

What is the best way to clean my spectacles?

  • Use microfibre cleaning cloth when cleaning your glasses.
  • Rince spectacles under running water and clean with handsoap.
  • It would be ideal if you could take your spectacles to your optometrist to clean in a ultrasonic bath.

Which things do I need to avoid when handling my spectacles?

  • Do not use polish on your lenses as this could scratch them.
  • Avoid touching the lenses with your fingers
  • do not use any vleaning agents on your lenses unless they are sepcially made for spectacle lenses.
  • do not rub or press too hard on the lenses when using a dry cloth to clean them
  • donot use tissues, paper towels, or clothing to clean the lenses.
  • regularly inspect screws on the frames and tighten them before cleaning.
  • never sleep with your spectacles on, this can bend or permanently damage your frame.
